Terrible Teeth and Muckle Lang Tusks πŸ˜‚

Well that’s some title but all will become clear…

Pr/3 have been busy crafting this week while also trying the get their little teeth and tongues around some Scots language!

We have been reading The Gruffalo this week as part of our topic. It’s a fantastic text to lead into emotions, talking about times when you’ve felt worried, brave, happy, sad etc and leads nicely into talking about people who can help us when we feel these things.

Just for fun (we love to learn this way) we thought we would try The Gruffalo in Scots! The children were full of giggles and brought these into the lunch hall where I heard one of them tell their friends “Ah-body is feart oh me!” πŸ˜‚ They were fantastic at working out what the Scots words meant using picture clues and their previous knowledge from the original book. πŸ“–

Not only did we do this, we tried our hands at some Makaton sign language while singing the Gruffalo song!

We also continued to learn about the importance of dental 🦷 hygiene this week in preparation for starting our tooth-brushing program next week. Ask your child if they can remember how many baby teeth we get and then how many adult teeth we get?

We made a fun (and yummy) teeth display for our tooth-brushing headquarters!

Please note πŸ“ Our newsletter will be posted soon…we’re having some issues uploading it. Apologies for the delay.

Also, no homework next week as we only have 3 days in school 🏫

Thank you,

Miss Barclay

All about me!

πŸ“£AttentionπŸ“£ all P2/3 parents…

Your child will bring home an “All About Me” sheet with their homework today. Please take the time to fill it out so we can get to know your little ones as much as we can.

This will go in their learning profiles and start off their learning journey at Drakies which we will fill with targets for your child to work hard to achieve. Our pride-o-meters will be off the charts! ☺️

Feel free to return these as soon as you’ve filled them in.

Thank you,

Miss Barclay and Mrs MacLean

Welcome to P2/3!

Hello parents and children,

A very warm welcome to you. We hope you find this blog and my twitter page (@MissSparkly2) a great way to keep up to date with what your little ones are getting up to in school.

Don’t worry if your don’t have Twitter as all of our tweets are put up on the school website too. πŸ‘πŸ»

We have had a busy first few weeks getting to know each other and settling in to our new surroundings. We have had a major focus on trying to build a happy, safe and positive learning environment so the children and I have been using some great stories like “Sharing a Shell” to talk about teamwork and rules.

This helped us make up our class charter. Please have a chat with your child about our expectations in P2/3 and what ones are important to/for them.

Our Term 1 letter to parents will be available on here next week. Keep your eyes peeled. πŸ‘€ πŸ“
